Journal Update 06 Nov / Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia
Hi
We are flying off to Sabah at two pm today to Sandikan. Hope it won't be monsoon, but of course it will be!
Had a very hard bus ride back from the Cameron Highlands yesterday and feeling pooped. There was a boy sat next to
me with a bad cold or malaria, so feeling a bit under the weather with the shits (not ideal to get on a plane but
hey that's what Imodium was invented for I guess.

Journal Update 06th Nov 2004 / Sadikan, Malaysia
Out in the Jungle Borneo
Hi guys
Well we made it out into the Borneo jungle with a little help from Imodium and Dramamin tablets, no pooping or
sickness. The Air Asia flight was pretty good though we had our work cut out organising the locals in to a nice
orderly line behind us of course. When my frantic hard stares didn't work I would have to call in Joe for the
heavy stuff of looking menacing, which seemed to shift them very quickly to the back of the line.
We are literally in the middle of nowhere here, in the middle of the jungle, next to the orang-utan reserve.
Our schedule is looking very tight over the next few days as tomorrow is for monkey spotting, first the
orang-utans and then in the afternoon the big noses) proboscis monkeys.

Then the next day, God willing, we will travel to turtle island to hopefully see the turtles laying eggs
over night. Then if we have a chance the last day we will be up the river by boat. I am now kicking myself
we did not give ourselves longer here, but we also want to see some more of Malaysia before leaving so will
have to pack it in a bit. We were warned today the monkeys can bite so I'm pleased I had my rabies shots,
Joe didn't and is looking a little scared! By the way the mossies here are the size of small bats, crikey
I will be pleased to see the city again.
Journal Update 09th Nov 2004 / Sepilot, Borneo, Malaysia
Hi guys
We are back in Sepilot in Borneo. There isn't much here, but lots of jungle. We got back from
Seligan Island this morning and kept watch most of the night for turtles, but alas we were not
able to see any of the "bigguns". We did release some babies into the water. I christened
mine Mirtle the Turtle. Because their shells are not yet fully formed she felt very soft and velvety
and I could feel her little heart beating. We are quite gutted about not seeing the mums though and are
feeling a bit pissed off as we have travelled a very long way and spent a lot of our budget to be here.
What the heck. Any way we have visited the orang-utans and the big nosed monkeys also, which can only be
seen in Borneo so all is not lost.

We decided to blow the deposit for a house on a grand world tour through 2004. We booked
through STA travel and put together a brief itinerary including the Far East, Australia, New Zealand and the USA.
As it turned out we experienced China, Bali, Fiji and many more places in between.
We decided to end the trip with a wedding in Las Vegas (which was very memorable!)
As a wedding present my brother put together an on-line travel blog for us which was a great tool for documenting
our journey. This experience truly changed our lives and we encountered many fantastic people through out the world.
I hope you enjoy reading some highlights of our journal!
