Travel Report Tioman, Malaysia |

Tioman, Malaysia
|
|
Kind of travel: Travelling alone
Year of this voyage: 2004
Author's age: 45-60 years
|
|
In April 2004 we visited Tioman at the East-Coast of Malaysia, -according to "Time Magazine"-
one of the 10 most beautiful island of our world. We were lucky that Ary's parents wanted to take care
of our beloved daughter Kim (2 years at that time). So we could spend three weeks to explore
Singapore and the East- and
West-Coast of Malaysia.

TIOMAN
one of the 10 most beautiful island of our world

tranquillity and pleasure will help you to relax

Pier
|
|
You can reach the island of Tioman by speedboat from Singapore in 6 - 7 hours, but we preferred a relaxed
bus-trip from Singapore to Mersing. There we took a little ferry that brought us to the island in about ca.
3 - 4 hours.

|

Palm Beach of Tioman
|
|
On Tioman there are only a couple of small villages "kampungs" with very few huts and
restaurants, mostly situated near beautiful beaches and bays. All is quite cheap, simple and original.
The jungle spreads until the blue, crystal-clear water at the empty, white sand beaches with lots of
coconut palms.

Our Cottage
|
|
Holiday photos and travel impressions par excellence! With small fishing boats it is easy to get to many
uninhabited groups of islands, some are just big rocks in the sea, where it is great for diving and
snorkeling.

Crystal-Clear Sea
|
|

Real Relaxing
|
|
This island is for sure a paradise for divers and fans of a sea underworld, that is in great condition and
filled with lots of colourful fish. In warm and crystal-clear water you will find all gorgeous and
breathtaking impressions you're looking for.

|

Waran
|
|
We rent a cottage in "Kampung Air Batang", a simple hut right at seaside; there where others up
the hill towards the jungle. On Tioman island you can go from bay to bay only by boat.
There is only one single road on the island to a bigger beach resort. If you want to walk across the
island you will find little paths through the jungle. Such a trip turns out to be a great adventure along
narrow and steep jungle paths.
After one week of relaxing, enjoying and exploring the island we went on towards the west coast of
Malaysia to Melaka, that ancient trading place at Melaka River.

to discover foreign countries since his early schooldays. Mostly by bicycle and motorcycle he travelled through
more than 60 countries. During a his life he found enough time to travel to faraway regions, he was interested in.
Since 2006 he is living mostly in his house in Bali with his Balinesse wife Yuni. He always felt drawn to the island of Bali, with its people, culture, religion and its countryside.
More than 17.500 islands of the Indonesian archipelago are lying now in front of his doorstep, waiting to be discovered.
